The University of Central Florida invention is a file compression algorithm that uses a cellular automata (CA) to pre‐process a file before compressing the file with an existing compression algorithm. The CA is a mathematical framework that investigates the behavior of complex systems and is encoded and appended to the compressed file. To decompress, the CA encoding is detached and used to process the decompressed file to recreate the original file.
